Wayland Business Association
Supported A Dozen Local Groups

June 2008 – The Wayland Business Association's spring fundraiser - a jazz brunch and auction - raised more than $8,000 for community groups and organizations. Along with other fundraising efforts, the WBA was able to distribute gifts to a wide range of community groups.

The WBA scholarship fund traditionally receives the largest donation, this year $4,500. The Wayland High School Scholarship Committee awarded the 2008 WBA scholarship to graduate Tyler Fisher. Tyler, who plans to attend the University of Delaware to study business, credits his interest in business to his classes in the high school business department.

For FY08, the Wayland School Department also received donations towards the printing of the Crisis Response Reference Guides, $2,000; the high school business program, $500; and the substance abuse program, $300. The other recipients of WBA donations were Wayland Beautification, $600; Wayland-to-Waveland, $500; Wayland Charitable Fund, $500; Wayland Hospice, $400; Wayland Scouters,$400; Wayland Relay For Life team-American Cancer Society; $200; Council on Aging, $100; Golden Tones, $100, Veterans' Book of Remembrance, $100; WayCAM, $100; and Wayland Historical Society, $100.
