2010

March 17 – WBA seeks member(s) to serve on town's Economic Development committee. Any member (also must be a Wayland resident) can serve. Learn more.

March 16 – WBA to sponsor T-Shirts for Wayland Cleans Up! litter pickup campaign Clean-up is Sat. April 10, 2010 -- and volunteers (particularly school students) will have bright orange T-shirts sponsored by Wayland Business Association and its members. Learn more.

March 15 – WBA to staff a table at Wayland Earth Day Celebration on April 11, 2010 hosted by Wayland Schools' Green Team. Honors the 40th anniversary of Earth Day. Members needed to staff table from 11 to 2. Sign up today!

2009

Nov. 5 – The WBA honored Sherman Lin of Pei Lin, Inc. gifts for many years of service to the Wayland Business Association as a member and leader on the executive committee. He was presented with a service award at the group's dinner on Nov. 5, 2009.

Oct. 6 – WBA members have two opportunities this month to learn how to use the WBA Web site to increase business. Training classes will be held Tuesday, Oct. 6 and Thursday, Oct. 22 at Wayland High School from 5 to 6:30 pm in the computer training lab (ME3). Click here to learn more.

Did you see the WBA representatives at the Russell's Garden Center Farmer's Market this week? You'll have another chance to see Patty MacNeil, John Carmody and Bob Baker Tuesday at the dinner meeting, Sept. 29th.

September – The WBA's main fundraising event will be a night at the Vokes Theatre featuring Sweeney Todd, The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. Thursday, Nov. 19th at 8 pm... silent auction begins at 6 pm. Tickets are $50 each... click to see details.

May 19 – The Wayland High School Business Education Program was featured at the year's last dinner meeting as program Director Jim Page introduced this year's award winners.

May 8 – More than $7,500 has been donated so far this year by the Wayland Business Association (WBA) to community groups and funds. Despite the economy and a smaller fundraising event than in past years, the WBA has maintained its contribution level. The WBA was formed over 30 years ago based on a mission of community support.

March 11 – The Wayland Business Association Executive Committee approved donations for this year to the Wayland High School Scholarship Fund ($4,000) and to Wayland Scouters, Inc., ($500) and Wayland Historical Society ($500).

The board also started the process to nominate new executive committee members and officers. Anyone interested should contact the committee.

February 11 – The Wayland Business Association Executive Committee approved the first of its annual donations to local organizations with a donation to the Vokes Theatre Capital Campaign ($500).

2008

Nov. 20 – The Wayland Business Association completed its first fall fundraising event, a musical at the Vokes Theatre in Wayland. The event raised more than $6,000 for the organizations and charities that the WBA supports each year. Read more.

June 21 – The Wayland Business Association supported more than a dozen local groups this year following fundraising efforts. See the complete list.

May 21 – The Wayland Business Association recognized the accomplishments of the Wayland High School Business Education Department hearing a presentation from Teacher Jim Page, meeting award-winning students in the program and presenting a check in support of the program.

2007

February 16 – Wayland Business Association honors Ralph Wegener – The WBA presented its most prestigious award, The Robert A. Waters Award, to Ralph Wegener.

2006

November – Several Wayland Business Association members, including Werner Gossels, Patricia MacNeil, Ralph Wegener, Sherman Lin, Frank Poisson, Robert Lavin and Joseph Strazzulla appeared before the Wayland Selectmen on two different occasions to request that the Selectmen vote against instituting a separate tax rate for commercial real estate owners.
